125 Years Strong

"It was the intention of the officers of the government to humiliate me by imprisoning me, but my spirit rose above that. I was a martyr to the cause of my people, and was proud of it."
-Queen Liliʻuokalani
January 17, 2018, marked the 125th anniversary of the illegal overthrow of Hawaii's Kingdom. Thousands of native Hawaiians and non-native Hawaiians united to remember the day and the courage of our Queen Liliʻuokalani, starting with a march from Mauna ʻAla to ʻIolani Palace. If you look closely, you'll notice the windows of the second-floor corner room (Queen Liliʻuokalaniʻs room) windows are covered with white blinds. It is said that they were protecting Queen Liliʻiuokalani by blocking the sight of snipers that were across the street.
